Episcopal Ordination in Santa Gertrudes, SP, Brazil:

On December 16, 2007, at 4:00 pm, at the Gymnasium of Sports, in Santa Gertrudes, SP, Brazil, there was ordained Bishop Fr. Msgr. João Carlos Seneme, who was in charge of the Province of the Holy Cross as Superior Provincial. The consecrator was Most. Rev. Moacyr José Vitti, CSS, Archbishop of Curitiba, PR, and the consecrators were Most Rev. Dirceu Veggini, Auxiliary Bishop of Curitiba, PR and Most Rev. Antonio Alberto Rezende Guimarães, CSS, Bishop Emeritus of Caetité, BA. There attended all the Stigmatine Bishops in Brazil, besides Most Rev. Rezende: Most Rev. José Alberto Moura, Archbishop of Monte Claros, MG, Most Rev. Mauro Montagnoli, Bishop of Ilhéus, BA, Most Rev. Antônio Fernando Brochini, Bishop of Jaboticabal. SP, Most Rev. José Geraldo Oliveira do Vale, Bishop Emeritus of Guaxupé, MG, Most Rev. Antônio de Souza, Bishop Emeritus of Assis, SP. The following bishpos concelebrated also: Most Rev. Bruno Gamberini, Archbishop of Campinas. SP, Most Rev. Fernando Mason, Bishop of Piracicaba, SP and Most Rev. Vartan Boghossian, Exarch of the Armenian Church for Latin America. About 40 priests also attended, besides the priests of the Diocese of Piracicaba, SP, and the Stigmatines of both Provinces in Brazil, and others from Curitiba, PR, São Paulo-SP and Uberaba, MG. The attendent people was estimated in about 1,800, spreaded for the seats in the Gymn.

Even though the hot weather, the ceremony unfolded in a impeccable way, either for the orgainization, welcoming and detailed preparation, or for the beauty of the religious scenery that occupied all the Gymn because of the Ecclesiastic presence, the competence of the Master of Ceremonies and his auxiliaries, the brilliant choir, the piety of the people, attempted and participant in every moment of the ordination.

This was a magnificent party for Most Rev. João Carlos, for the people of Santa Gertrudes, for the Stigmatines and all who attended: relatives, parishioners, friends and colleagues of the just-ordained bishop.

We are very grateful to all who hosted people, in particular the members of the Provincial Curia, the community of Santana Farm and the Holy Cross Parish from Rio Claro.

We pray and wish that Most Rev. João Carlos develop a fecund episcopal ministry, desenvolva um fecundo ministério episcopal, adorned by his simplicity, availability, sense of humor and communicative character.
